How To Fix DLL Errors

Boost your PC's Speed and Performance by Fixing DLL Errors

Having DLL errors on your computer? You've come to the right place. Even if you don't know what a DLL file is, you can solve DLL problems on your own.

In this article, we offer step-by-step instructions to fix DLL errors, download missing DLL files, replace incorrect DLL files and re-register DLL files in Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.

Download DLL Suite

DLL Suite is an advanced DLL files fixer, a specially designed DLL repair tool that allows you to fix DLL errors, fix corrupted files and download missing DLL files for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP, both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.

To fix DLL errors, you should download a DLL repair tool first. Here we recommend that you download DLL Suite to free scan your DLL errors. The DLL error detection mechanism behind DLL Suite is to compare the properties of the DLL files in your computer with the original ones stored in our remote servers.

Important: In order to successfully fix DLL errors, please make sure that your Internet connection works.

Note: DLL Suite is designed to fix operating system related DLL errors, if it is application related DLL error, please use the latest antivirus/antispyware to scan your system to ensure your computer is virus free, and then try fixing DLL errors by checking the following 3 events:

  • If the DLL errors appear after uninstalling application Uninstalling application would remove the shared system DLL files, reinstalling the application may help fix DLL errors.
  • If the DLL errors appear after installing new software Installing new software would introduce out-of-date DLL files that would overwrite the DLL files shared by other applications and the system. (i) Updating software, (ii) reinstalling software or (iii) uninstalling/removing software would help fix DLL errors of this kind.
  • If the DLL errors appear after application installation failure Installation failure will leave corrupt DLL files that would overwrite the correct files in your computer. Reinstalling software may help fix DLL errors.
  • If this method does not work, the possible reason of the DLL error messages displayed in front of you is related with operating system DLL files. To fix operating system related DLL errors, you may consider to use DLL Suite.

At present, DLL Suite is compatiable with 57 Windows systems, including 22 of Windows 7, 27 of Windows Vista and 8 of Windows XP.

For the Windows 8 operating systems, we will update the database once the Microsoft releases their full versions.

    Replace incorrect files

DLL problems can be repaired by using correct DLL files to replace incorrect ones, including missing, corrupted, deleted or removed files. To retrieve correct DLL files, either you can copy them from another computer running the same operating system with yours, or use DLL Suite.

Ensure that you just want to fix DLL errors, not to fix SYS errors or fix EXE errors, do remember to ONLY select .DLL option before clicking Start Scan button.

When the scan is complete, you will see (OS: Windows XP SP3):

These DLL files may have been missing, corrupted and modified. DLL Suite detected these files through comparing 5 aspects of their properties:

  • File size
  • File version
  • File description
  • Creation time
  • Publisher
  • Either you can manually or automatically fix DLL errors. If your system is Windows 7 or Windows Vista, no matter which method you will take, please disable User Account Control (UAC) first. For more information on how to disable UAC, please see:
